"I always enjoyed talking to and connecting with people so sales was a natural fit. It helps you develop in every aspect of your personal/professional life moving forward. It’s also totally self-determined. You decide your own salary in sales, which was right for me."

"I got into sales because I liked the idea of offering solutions to business problems and having ownership over my income. I had friends working in finance putting in long hours in salaried roles, the idea of putting in more hours and that having a direct impact on my take home was exciting for someone fresh out of college."

"What motivated me to pursue a career in sales was the opportunity to work with businesses to help transform their company and earn a share of the deal in the process. It gave me an opportunity to act as a CEO managing deals, helping grow both our brand and there's, while making a true difference."

"After several years in retail management, I was looking for a change, and the sales world provided a lot of opportunities and flexibility for me. After interviewing at multiple companies with limited success, I was introduced to LaunchSource, and they provided great resources and guidance on how to interview, and ultimately found my first sales position with Placester."

"Sales became immediately appealing to me out of college for a couple of reasons. The earnings potential was hard to ignore and it was also a career that I knew would help me build valuable life long skills."

"I wanted to continue my career in sales because I thrive on the challenge of meeting targets and exceeding expectations. Ultimately, the satisfaction of building relationships and helping clients achieve their goals drives my passion for sales."

"I wanted to continue my career in sales because I enjoy the challenge it poses and rewards that come with it."

"I was working in channel marketing and absolutely loved the people facing side of the house. After some career reflection, I came to the conclusion that Customer Success or Account Management was my ultimate goal. I found the right fit for me with the opportunity for growth at Beyond Identity in the Inside Sales department. As we grew our Customer Success side of the house, I made the switch to Customer Success Manager. Having a sales skillset really set me up for growth in CS, especially because I was managing all of our customer relationships."

"Coming from an athletic background - I believe that sales translates well into the competitive nature that I am accustomed to. Just as in sports, where dedication, strategy, and resilience are paramount, the same principles apply to excel in sales."

"I was motivated to start a career in sales because it offers a direct correlation between hard work and success where effort is recognized and rewarded. The continuous opportunities for growth and the challenge of understanding clients needs and providing real solutions keep me engaged. Seeing actual tangible results and building lasting relationships drive my passion for staying in this field."

What was your background and motivated you to start or continue a career in sales from whatever else you were doing?

"I’ll never forget meeting with a friend’s aunt, who was in a senior leadership position at a well-known technology company, to discuss where to go next in my professional journey. At the time, I was working at a non-profit training guide dogs for the blind and visually impaired. After speaking for a few minutes she firmly said “You should look into tech.” Having just enough tech skills to turn on my laptop, I was intimidated by that suggestion and admittedly brushed it off. A few months later, as I was searching for jobs online, I stumbled upon a post from LaunchSource. I don’t recall its exact words, but I remember that it took some of that previous intimidation I was feeling and replaced it with curiosity and optimism that I could enter into a new career and industry despite my seemingly irrelevant job experience. So I applied to be a part of the LaunchSource process. I quickly learned that my experience, skills, and knowledge weren’t irrelevant at all. That, with LaunchSource’s support, I could forge a path that I never imagined for myself. A path in sales. It was the LaunchSource team that motivated me to enter into sales. Everything from that initial online post, to meeting their team, to entering the group interview process, and to accepting my first sales position. That push has opened the door to so many amazing opportunities, including my shift into a sales-adjacent role in GTM enablement, which I hold today. "

"Transitioning careers during the uncertainty of COVID-19 was daunting. With a diverse background in service, education, and aviation, and recently married, I found myself jobless like many others. Determined to provide for my family, I applied to numerous companies with little success until I discovered LaunchSource. Their support and training were pivotal, allowing me to secure my first SDR role. This foundational experience helped me climb to a CSM position at Tipalti, where I continue to grow professionally."

"I was at a point in my life where I knew I needed a new challenge. I didn’t know much about what that challenge would be until I found LaunchSource. They made sure I was ready to tackle it head on."

"Through the job search process coming out of college, a career in sales was intriguing due my background in athletics (specifically hockey) that both require hard work, mental toughness, and a willingness to get outside of my comfort zone."

"Growing up, I used to be very inquisitive and I realized how easy I was able to persuade my peers and few people around me. I got better at it over time and thought “why not put this skill into good use?”. I went further to better my skills in College and I got an opportunity through LaunchSource to work at Cognism to explore my skills and bring a diverse experience. And I’m proud to say that I’ve been excelling in the role."

"The motivation for starting my career in sales was heavily influenced by witnessing people close to me and the results they’ve earned through their internal drive and strategic thinking. In my opinion, a successful sales career is most determined by your effort and attitude which are inputs we can control. "

"What motivated me to start a career in sales was the chance to make a direct impact on a business's growth. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a career in sales helps fuel that with the work I do daily."

"I moved from headhunting engineers to software sales because I could truly dig into the product and what the software solves. I got the opportunity to be an expert in my space. Also, software shows up on Monday!"

"As I was beginning the job search after college graduation, one of my friends suggested I look into LaunchSource. I wasn’t looking specifically for a sales job, but I decided to apply to LaunchSource just to learn more about working as an SDR. At the interview day, we practiced sales call role-plays, we recorded an elevator pitch on why a company should hire us, and some other exercises. I learned that a good sales rep is well-spoken, inquisitive, empathetic, organized, and a fast learner. These were all skills that came very naturally to me, and I realized this could be a great career path."

"What motivated me to transition into a sales career from my previous roles in bartending and operations was the desire for a more balanced lifestyle. Since turning 18, I've worked weekends, a routine I wished to change. Bartending taught me the value of hard work—the more effort and time I invested, the greater the financial return. This principle, where input directly impacts output, is also central to sales. LaunchSource was instrumental in highlighting my skills, providing an invaluable bridge to the tech industry."

What was your Background and motivated you to start or continue a career in sales from whatever else you were doing?

"The challenge of sales is what motivated me to transition from the food industry. I graduated from college with a Bachelor's in International Business from UMASS Boston. Landing my first corporate job was challenging without experience, but each rejection motivated me even more to secure a 'yes.' LaunchSource provided the tools and network I needed to land my first corporate job. I am very driven and goal-oriented, and without a doubt, sales was the perfect choice."

"After working in healthcare for several years, I recognized the importance of both earning potential and innovation within my career. Much like my experiences in a hospital setting, sales offers the opportunity to interact with individuals, understand their needs, and offer solutions. Given my existing skill set and career aspirations, transitioning to technical sales seemed like an obvious choice."

"When I graduated from college, I wasn't entirely sure about my career path. As a former college athlete, the allure of sales captivated me and the opportunity to continue engaging in something challenging, competitive, rewarding, and fun. Sales appeared to be the ideal avenue to showcase many of the attributes I possess."

"With a background in MIS & technology consulting, I knew I wanted to pursue an exciting career in the tech industry after graduating college. My competitive nature & high ambitions piqued my interest in a sales role, and the LaunchSource platform and mentorship provided me an excellent opportunity to become an SDR."

"For the last 17 years, I have been working in the service industry to support my artistic endeavors and make ends meet. After the onset of COVID-19, I nearly lost my home due to a significant interruption in my income. During this time, I learned various strategies to keep myself financially afloat. As remote work opportunities began to increase, I decided to seize the chance to pursue a salaried position with benefits in the tech industry."

"At my previous job, I was unhappy, underpaid, and worked horrible hours. I wanted to go to a job where I could control my future, and control how much I could make based on hard work. I needed change and applied to so many jobs that went nowhere until I gave LaunchSource a chance. Within 3 hours, I had an interview that led to me getting my current job."

What was your Background and motivated you to start or continue a career in sales from whatever else you were doing?

"The decision to continue my career in tech sales was driven by the ability to grow & elevate unlike any other industry. The fluidity that exists in tech sales allows for easier mobility for us people in their early careers. The outputs are directly tied to your inputs. I.e., do the thing, get the thing. The skills and tools I’ve developed in sales roles are a big contributor to the decision to continue."

What was your Background and motivated you to start or continue a career in sales from whatever else you were doing?

"I enjoy working in sales because it's among the limited careers where your earnings are closely linked to your dedication, and I find satisfaction in earning what I work for. It offers significant income possibilities for those who are willing to put in extra effort and that's the kind of incentive that fuels my daily hard work. Additionally, I value how it combines my analytical skills with my outgoing personality, creating a fulfilling work environment."

What was your Background and motivated you to start or continue a career in sales from whatever else you were doing?

"My only sales experience was 3 months working in a Verizon store and it was not what I was looking for when I pivoted to Sales from Healthcare. It ended up being more of an IT role so I wanted to find something more in line with the tech sales role I envisioned. I had previous success with staffing agencies so when I found LaunchSource which focused on placing people in sales roles it was the ideal solution. Cognism fit a lot of the boxes I was looking for in a company and the interview process was smooth and quick making it an easy decision to go with them."

“I had no prior sales experience before joining LaunchSource but I didn’t let that hold me back. I saw the opportunity (at Quickbase) as a meaningful challenge that could lead to a rewarding career…knowing I had the grit and determination to make it happen!”
